Project Information The Great Rivers Greenway District is providing matching funds for the completion of a 2.3 mile feeder trail from the Al Foster Trail along the Meramec River to Ridge Road in the City of Wildwood. Status: This beautiful 2.3-mile trail is officially open to the public! The trail opens one half hour before sunrise and closes one half hour after sunset. What was once the decaying Lawler-Ford Road has been recreated into a beautiful trail for hiking and biking. Rock Hollow serves as an important connector within the Meramec Greenway. This is among the most scenic of GRG trails, and is a wonderful way to explore the outdoors. Connections: Rock Hollow Trail directly connects to the Al Foster Memorial Trail within the Meramec Greenway. A one-mile walk or ride westward on the Al Foster Memorial Trail brings trail users to Glencoe, where the Al Foster connects to Hamilton-Carr Trail in the Western Greenway. Eastward on the Al Foster Memorial Trail along the Meramec River takes riders and hikers to Castlewood State Park, although the washout at ”The Narrows” is hindering completion of that trail. Partner(s): The City of Wildwood in cooperation with the St. Louis County Department of Parks and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks.
