May 24, 2008 Mary Meachum Freedom Crossing Celebration Description: Join GRG and the Confluence Greenway at Missour's First Nationally recognized Underground Railroad Site by the Riverfront Trail on the banks of the Mississippi River. The event will include a fully costumed 1855 renactment of an urban slave escape. The event will also have gospel music, art and historical exhibits, cultural acts and food vendors. Location: Access the site via the North River Front Trail or Take Hwy 70 to Grand Ave; go east toward Mississippi River to Hall St. continue 1/4 mile to Prairie Street.
